From June 19 to July 11, 2023, works by Luxembourg painter Nadine Cloos will be on display at the lower chapel of the Italian Court in Kutná Hora.
The opening takes place on Thursday, June 20 at 6 p.m.
Her Ecce Homo series reveals a deep, religious sense of pain, suffering, the proximity of death and human sadness. For the first time in her career, Nadine Cloos deals with religious themes and chooses Christ and his transcendent sacrifice as the main subject of her paintings. The face of Christ symbolizes the pain of all creatures. The paintings are done in oil and acrylic on canvas, the drawings are done in acrylic or ink on paper and reflect the artist's strength and delicacy. She works quickly and decisively and her figures allow the observer to understand their meaning. Her paintings do not necessarily reproduce reality, but they convey many feelings. Some of her strokes depict the cross of Christ, others the pain and the suffering. The use of yellow and blue evokes the sadness of Ukraine and a world facing war. Christ remains in silence... a silence that communicates and fills the space in the room. In dialogue with Nadine Cloos, one can sense a great responsibility and a great sense of duty... Allow yourself to experience the strength, suffering and power of the Ecce Homo cycle.
